Facelift – The S-Lift or Mini Face Lift
Ageing of the face is inevitable, and as the years go by, the skin begins to loosen on the face and neck. The purpose of a thread lifts is to restore the youthful lower face and neckline you had years ago. As time passes, facial lines and wrinkles form, laxity in the neckline develops and deep folds appear along the nose-cheek groove. This procedure can improve the appearance of sagging facial skin of the lower face as well as jowls and loose neck skin. Patients should expect to achieve a smoother neck area, reduced jowls, and a refined jawline and chin. You can discuss and ask more about thread lift cost, combining procedures, and potential results when you come in for your consultation about at our Melbourne or Gold Coast / Brisbane clinic.
S-lift is often performed in conjunction with other procedures that rejuvenate the face including brow lift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and skin resurfacing procedures such as laser skin resurfacing.

Who is the best candidate for an S-Lift?
The best candidate for an S-Lift is a physically healthy person who is realistic in their expectations regarding the appearance of loose facial and neck skin. You do not need to wait until the signs of ageing are severe – an increasing number of men and women elect to have thread lifts performed at a younger age when they start to see the first signs of a sagging lower face – creating a less dramatic and less noticeable result than if they had waited longer.
In general, an S-Lift performed at a younger age creates a longer lasting and more natural appearing lift, enabling you to enjoy the results of your procedure for more years to come. Conversely, so long as you are healthy, an S-lift can be performed at any age and can deliver remarkable results. Many healthy patients over 80 years of age enjoy the benefits of thread lifts.
Understanding the thread lift procedure:
A small ‘S’ shaped incision is made around the front and lower ear. Special local anaesthetic fluid is then carefully placed into the tissues. The skin in front of the ear, extending into the jowls is released from the muscles beneath and the muscles are then tightened (tightening the neck and jowls). Some careful liposuction is carried out to the jowls and neck. The opening is closed using fine sutures. Where necessary, a small opening can also be made under the chin, where sagging neck muscles can be tightened. The S-lift is carried out using general and local anaesthetic.
